The long uphill battle that Bobbi Kristina Brown was facing after her near drowning in a bathtub turned out to be too much for the young woman many know as Whitney Houston’s daughter. Bobbi Kristina Brown has died at the young age of 22. The Houston family released a statement through their rep and it read:

“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family,” the statement says. “She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death comes as a shock, yet not a shock. About 6 months ago she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her home in Roswell, GA. Since the unpleasant discovery she never fully regained consciousness and was being kept on life support over the last several months. In March she was moved to a long-term care facility in the Atlanta area.

In June, she was transferred to hospice after her condition “continued to deteriorate,” Pat Houston said in a statement on behalf of the Houston family at the time.

“We thank everyone for their support and prayers,” Pat, who is married to Whitney Houston’s brother Gary, said. “She is in God’s hands now.”

The Brown family has not been on a good run over the last few years. Bobbi Kristina’s death comes on the heals of her father Bobby Brown becoming a new father once again.

Bobbi Kristina’s death comes more than three years after the Feb. 11, 2012, death of her mother, who was also discovered unconscious in her bathtub just before the 2012 Grammy Awards. An investigation later determined that the legendary singer died from accidental drowning, and a toxicology report found that she had cocaine, marijuana, Xanax, Benadryl and other medication in her system.

Most people understood that the death of her mom took a pretty rough toll on Bobbi Kristina, who already suffered from her won substance abuse problems.

We wish the Brown family peace in this time of heartbreak and sorrow. RIP Bobbi Kristina Brown.
